Arusha, Tanzania: Seeing Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

15MAR08 Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

So, another exception from the journey and a mention of the destination.

I saw Mount Kilimanjaro today! It was fantastic and difficult to explain. There I was standing on the side of the road to Moshe from Arusha (this is the road to the airport). It is raining buckets on one side of the road and in front of me you can see the Mount Kilimanjaro mountain range before in all its glory. To my left were Maasai women and young girls gathering wood for fire. You cannot write this story.

A closer look at the snow capped peak; yup snow in the Tropics! Well at 19,000'+ that is what happens at any lattitude. Kilimanjaro is about 3.5 degrees south of the Equator.

Rain on the right side away from the mountain range.

Maasi women gather wood.

A look at the peak from far away.

Anoter look far away.
